The MANY was created in 2019. Our goal is to build long-term community relationships that could help alleviate our conditions under oppression and build power towards direct democracy, cooperation, and collective liberation among marginalized people. We are both a loose community support network and a worker self-directed 501(c)(3) organization. We focus on “solidarity, not charity” when working with our neighbors. Instead of a top down charity approach, we build real relationships from the bottom up – power to the people who live in the struggle!
There are a lot of inspiring projects happening in our city. We created this tool so that local, grassroots groups and programs committed to anti-oppression, cooperation, and care could benefit from a collective and accountable tool that allows us access to fiscal sponsorship, tax incentives, liability insurance, and other benefits on our own terms and conditions without relying on large institutions.
